What we do

Steve Morris Designs is a full-service metal design and fabrication studio, located in the Hudson Valley, New York, just 90 miles north of New York City. We offer custom metal lighting, furniture, railings, staircases, balconies, gates, bars, retail displays, and fireplace mantels, as well as metal sculpture and functional art. Steve Morris also offers design services, and has created beautiful interiors for a number of clients. We’ve completed both residential and commercial projects in the Hudson Valley, Westchester, New Jersey, New York City, and the Hamptons, Long Island.

Materials

Steve Morris Designs specializes in custom metalwork of all kinds, and fabricates designs in cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper and aluminum. Wood, glass, and stone are also common elements that can be found in Steve’s designs.

Finishes

High-polish, brushed, or grained-finishes are available on most projects, as well as a variety of patinaes, powder-coated paint, or clear-coat. Samples available by request.

Design

Steve Morris Designs is unique in our ability to both design and build everything. In fact, most projects we handle from concept to completion. Because almost everything is custom and commissioned, the design phase is an extremely important part of what we do. Steve can provide shop drawings, draft plans, and work with existing plans. Steve also works with architects and designers, collaborating on design, or executing their ideas.

How we work

Though every project is different, the basic flow of working with Steve Morris Designs follows five basic steps:

  1. Establishing the Project — An Initial Meeting is set up, either in our Hudson Valley studio, or in your space, and we spend an hour or so consulting with you. Next, we’ll do a bit of Project Planning. We’ll work with you to assess your needs, find solutions that suit your surroundings and style, and guide you with materials and design ideas, with the goal of helping you envision the project as completely as possible. We’ll address budget, timing, and any other concerns you may have, before we present the Estimate, so that we are all on the same page.
  2. Estimate is prepared, and discussed. Final budget and designs are agreed upon.
  3. Project — Work commences, and your project is underway.
  4. Project Completion — Since most work is done offsite, in our Hudson Valley studio, this is the point where you are invited to see what has been done, before it is installed, and a date is scheduled for installation.
  5. Installation — The final frontier. We deliver, install, futz, fine-tune, tweak, and perfect. We’re not happy, unless you’re happy!
